Inside slide search: finding a slide by what is on it

SMRT Slides Team · 4 min read

Filename search fails the moment a deck is called final_v3. Here is how SMRT Slides indexes slide content instead.

Every slide is indexed independently

When a deck is uploaded, SMRT Slides parses it into individual slides and extracts the title, body copy, speaker notes and structure of each one. The unit of search is the slide, not the file, so a single strong slide inside a forgotten deck is just as findable as a brand-new one.

Filters that match how people ask

  • Free-text search across slide titles, body text and notes.
  • Type-scoped tag filters so 'Pricing' as a subject does not collide with 'Pricing' as a deck.
  • Folder scoping when you already know which part of the business owns the content.

Preview before you commit

Search results render as slide previews rather than filenames, so you can confirm you have the right chart before adding it to a build. Fewer wrong picks means fewer rebuilds later.
